I had the great honor of first working with Andie from RIRIKU on her former space in Highland Park, Los Angeles in 2023, and I was thrilled to be asked to co-design and build her new shared space with shoe brand Intentionally Blank, WHEN TWO BECOME ONE. Andie wanted to incorporate lots of texture and stainless steel and together we sipped Aperol spritzes and came up with a game plan: rough organic shapes for the dressing rooms and a huge amorphous shelf made of plaster and glass.
Ty from Intentionally Blank requested shoe display shelves in the same ice cave texture, and I crafted all this with lumber, MDF, muslin and plaster of Paris. We subcontracted the stainless steel details from local Eagle Rock institution Eric’s Creative Wrought Iron, and I did the built ins underneath for the cash wrap, console tables and jewelry cases.
